Albert Taras started with almost nothing.

Kraft Mac & Cheese for lunch and dinner. One year of savings. And a clear vision of a market shift nobody else saw coming.

It was the early 1990s. Travel agency commissions were eroding. Technology was disrupting everything. Globalization was on the horizon. Most people in the travel industry were trying to hold on to the old model.

He Saw an Opportunity

Albert positioned TCG Consulting as a third-party provider working directly for corporations — not for travel agencies, not for suppliers. For the buyers. The companies that actually held the T&E budgets.

The insight was simple: if you work for the buyer instead of the supplier, your incentives align differently. You’re solving their problem, not protecting the old commission structure.

Over 40% of travel agencies went out of business trying to adapt. Albert’s company became the second largest global T&E management company in the world — after American Express — managing $26 billion annually in client spending. He received a global patent for TMPE integration. Made Inc. 5000 two years in a row.

Then, after 27 years of building, he decided to sell.

Not because he had to. Because he recognized something most founders never do: the chapter was complete.

On July 8th, we’ll discuss:

  • Spotting the Shift: How Albert saw a market disruption in the early 1990s that most of his industry missed — and how he positioned TCG Consulting to win while others were defending a dying model.
  • Knowing When to Stop: Why Albert sold at the peak, what “completion” feels like versus burnout, and how to recognize the moment when it’s time to step away.
  • Building the Exit Team: Why Albert brought in a consultant and leaned heavily on his CFO to drive the process — and how that decision kept him two steps ahead from start to finish.
  • Preparing the Business: What a 2-to-3 year exit checklist actually looks like — profitability, operations, systems, and building a team that executes without you.
  • Preparing Yourself: Why the business exit is the easy part, and how Albert spent a full year after the sale doing what he called “nothing and trying” — and what that taught him about life after the business.

The businesses that win aren’t the ones defending the old model. They’re the ones positioning for the shift everyone else is missing.

Who Should Watch This?

This session is essential for any business owner who is:

2 to 5 years from selling and hasn’t started preparing the business — or themselves.

Wondering whether now is the right time to exit, or whether to keep pushing.

Building toward a sale and wants to understand what a clean, drama-free exit actually requires.

Trying to spot the next market shift before their competitors do.
