Founder, Portus Wealth Advisors

A passionate advocate for entrepreneurial success, William Bissett brings over two decades of experience to his role as Founder of Portus Wealth Advisors. His journey into financial planning was sparked by a fascination with economics during a formative year in Washington D.C., leading him to dedicate his career to empowering business owners. William founded Portus Wealth Advisors in Charlotte, NC, in 2019 to provide sophisticated, comprehensive financial guidance, primarily for entrepreneurs leading businesses with revenues between $5 million and $50 million. He excels at helping them build robust financial foundations that support both their ambitious business objectives and their personal life goals, enabling them to not just succeed, but thrive.

Before taking the entrepreneurial leap to establish Portus, William spent more than a decade honing his expertise at a fast-growing RIA in Maryland, learning from key mentors. Today, he focuses on delivering dynamic financial strategies that prepare business owners for significant future transitions and help them secure lasting legacies.

Beyond his advisory work, William is deeply committed to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is an active mentor to startups, an angel investor, and the long-time host of the popular "Speaking of Startups" podcast (formerly Charlotte Angel Connection, with over 160 episodes) and the new "Charting Opportunities" podcast. A firm believer in holistic well-being, William champions the idea that true success integrates financial discipline with robust personal health and a strong commitment to community. His approach is built on fostering growth—for his clients, his talented team at Portus, and the broader entrepreneurial landscape.
